Search Tips

Please note that when searching for multiple words, the search engine looks for pages containing all words. Thus when typing charter school in the keywords field, it will return only pages containing both the word charter and the word school. To return pages containing one or the other -- just charter or just school -- use the OR function described below.

The search engine understands several commands that may help you refine your search:

Quotes: Type “charter school” in the keywords field to find pages containing the exact phrase charter school.

Also use quotes to force the search engine to search for common words it would otherwise ignore. Without quotes, the search engine will not search for numerals, letters of the alphabet, and certain common words such as to, the, in, which, etc. Thus if a search fails to return the expected results, consider trying the search again with the word or words in quotes, to ensure that the search engine does not ignore an important search term.

Or: Type charter OR school in the keywords field to find pages containing either the word charter or the word school.

Asterisk: Use an asterisk (*) and quotes to find pages containing variations of a single word or prefix.
For example: Type “instruct*” in the keywords field to find pages containing any of the following: instruct, instructor, instruction, instructional, instructing, etc.

A single asterisk will apply to multiple words enclosed in quotes.
For example: Type “instruct lead*” in the keywords field to find pages containing any of the following phrases: instructional leader, instructor leads, instructional leadership, etc.
